In mid-May, the International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) decided to deny General Ratko Mladic, one of the leaders of the Bosnian Serbs during the Balkan wars, in treatment in Russia. For temporary release in connection with the threat to life, Moscow gave all the necessary guarantees, they were signed by the President, but the court saw the danger of the defendant’s escape. Meanwhile, according to the defense of the general and his relatives, the state of Mladic is deteriorating catastrophically, he survived a heart attack, and the doctors of the ICTY do not provide him the proper help.
On this occasion, in Belgrade was held a press conference with lawyers and the son of Mladic, Russian experts joined it by telephone. Defense chief Branko Lukic said that his health condition is very bad, and there is a possibility that he will not live to see the end of the process. This is what the Russian expert Pavel Dorokhin said, who personally visited Mladic.
The son of General Mladic said that throughout the years of the trial the family of the general is under terrible pressure. His father’s condition worsens, doctors did not fix the experience of a heart attack.
