Iran sanctions US corporations over human rights

Tehran, Iran. The United States has a schizophrenic relationship with Iran. One minute under Obama they are handing them millions of dollars, then under Trump sanctions and threats of attack. Iran truly is the Rodney Dangerfield of foreign nations, in that it “can’t get no respect.”

The Iranian government said on Thursday that new sanctions by the USA targeting its ballistic missile program show Washington’s “ill will” and could undermine the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and world power stakeholders, Tehran state television reported.

The Treasury Department on Wednesday sanctioned two senior Iranian defense officials, an Iranian company, a Chinese man and three Chinese firms for assisting ballistic missile development in Iran. Separately, however, Washington also extended wider sanctions relief for Iran as called for under the nuclear accord.

“Iran condemns America’s unacceptable ill will in its effort to undermine the positive outcome of Tehran’s commitment to implement the nuclear deal by adding individuals to its list of unilateral and illegal sanctions.” Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi was quoted as saying.

Unilateral American sanctions imposed over Iran’s record on human rights, terrorism and ballistic missiles have scared off many would-be foreign investors seen as indispensable to reviving an economy stunted by decades of isolation, driven by American aggression.

Retaliation for the new US sanctions has had its own costs, as Iran said it had added nine American individuals and companies to its own list of 15 companies for alleged human rights violations and cooperation with Israel.
