Paris, France. After accusing the Russian Federation of interference in American elsections for months, ex-US President Barack Hussein Obama just proceeded to do exactly that by endorsing French candidate Macron today, in a last minute act of desperation.
Former US president Barack Obama endorsed Emmanuel Macron for the French presidency today, praising the inexperienced frontrunner’s “liberal values” in a video posted Thursday on the candidate’s website.
Macron has “stood up for liberal values and put forward a vision for the important role that France plays in Europe and around the world according to the former US President, who accused Russia of election interference in America’s 2016 elections, ” Mr Obama says in the video, adding: “He appeals to people’s hopes and not their fears.”
Obama, openly meddling and interfering in France’s election goes on to state,“I know that you face many challenges, and I want all of my friends in France to know how much I am rooting for your success,” he continues, “Because of how important this election is, I also want you to know I am supporting Emmanuel Macron to lead you forward. En March! Vive la France!”
Macron, who leads the socially liberal party En Marche! (In Motion!), backs remaining in the European Union.
Macron’s opponent in Sunday’s runoff election is Marine Le Pen, who leads the nationalist and populist National Front party and has frequently been compared with President Trump. Madame Le Pen has suggested she would sponsor a referendum on France leaving NATO and the European Union should she win.
Obama said he appreciates Macron’s tone and plans for his nation, but had no comment on actions he has criticized others for without evidence, as in the case of allegations of election interference he made against Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Today’s endorsement is being done right before the French elections in only a couple days to avoid charges of obvious American interference in French elections, something that has been used to virtually paralyze the Trump administration since taking office, with charges Russia interfered in US elections last year.
