Pyongyang, North Korea. Today’s celebrations of North Korea’s founders 105th birthday anniversary has showcased the very reason a US Navy strike force is rushing to the Korean peninsula region at top speed. During the parade, massive new models of ICBMs and SLBMs were displayed that will further provoke an American response, intelligence officials fear.
North Korea unveiled what appears to be new intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) at its Day of the Sun parade, amid increasing fears its trying to develop a model that could hit the United States.
North Korea showed two new kinds of ICBM enclosed in canister launchers mounted on the back of transporter erector launcher trucks. Their larger missile was similar in appearance to the Chinese DF-41, which can travel 9,000 miles before reaching its terminal phase.
The North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un led the parade commemorating the 105th anniversary of his late grandfather’s birthday and rolled out a military arsenal that also included submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBM), which also made their debut on Saturday.
The arsenal showcased on Saturday suggest the country has been plowing ahead with its goal of putting a nuclear warhead on an ICBM that can strike the US, although the North has yet to flight test them. In his annual New Year’s address, Kim said that North Korea’s preparations for an ICBM launch have reached the final stage.
North Korea also possesses a powerful midrange missile, which outside analysts call ‘Musudan’. It can potentially reach U.S. air bases in Guam.
Minister Choe Ryong Hae, addressed the packed square and reiterated a warning to the United States.”If the United States wages reckless provocation against us, our revolutionary power will instantly counter with an annihilating strike, and we will respond to full-out war with full-out war and to nuclear war with our style of nuclear strike warfare.” he said.
President Donald Trump has indicated he is taking unilateral action to remove North Korea as a nuclear power. A US Navy carrier task force is currently headed to Korea for further orders.
