Monument to Russian volunteers opened in the Republika Srpska

 

In the city of Visegrad a monument to Russian volunteers who fought on the side of the Serbs in the wars of the times of the break-up of Yugoslavia was opened.

 

 

The opening took place today, April 12, in honor of the Day of Russian Volunteers, which is celebrated by the Serbs in different parts of the former Yugoslavia, where they live: Serbia, Republika Srpska and Montenegro.

 

The memorial is a cross of the Russian Orthodox Church five and a half meters high. Local and Serbian veteran organizations participated in the construction, local Orthodox clergy gave blessings.

 

Since 1992, a large number of Russian volunteers fought in Visegrad, they took part in the heavy defense of the city. The city managed to be kept Serbian.
