Syrian army attacks ISIS terrorists North and East of Palmyra

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continues its operation to secure the countryside of Palmyra.

On April 5, the SAA captured the southwestern side of the strategic Al-Muzabed mountain northeast of Palmyra city. This mountain overlooks the Arak gas field located east of the ancient city. Few days ago the SAA also reached the gates of Al-Shaer, Jazal and Al-Maher gas fields .

Russian and Syrian warplanes carried out a large number of airstrikes on ISIS positions in the Arak field, near the around Aintar mountain, the Al-Tlelah cross point, the Quarries area, the old ammo storage base north and east of Palmyra.

According to pro-government sources, the SAA are aiming to capture Al-Shaer, Al-Maher, Arak and Jazal gas fields until the end of April. The SAA may head towards Sukhnnah later this year in the first phase of a possible operation to break the ISIS siege of Deir Ezzor.
