Eight suspects detained over St. Petersburg metro bombing

 

Russia’s Investigative Committee has reported detention of eight men suspected of involvement in the bombing of a train in St. Petersburg metro on Monday.

 

 

“As many as six people were detained in cooperation with the FSB federal security service and the police in St. Petersburg and another two people in Moscow,” Committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko told reporters.

 

“The detainees are Seifulla Khakimov, Ibragibzhon Yermatov, Dilmurod Muidinov, Bakhram Yergashev, Azamzhon Makhmudov, Makhamadyusuf Mirzaalimov, Shokhista Karimova, and Sodik Ortikov,” she said.

 

“An explosive device similar to the one found on Ploshchad Vosstaniya station in St. Petersburg metro, handguns and munitions have been discovered in the apartments the suspects lived in,” Petrenko said.

 

Investigators plan to ask the court shortly to authorize the suspects’ arrest.
