“Union for neutrality” of Montenegro has appealed to the Dutch senators asking to submit to the referendum the issue of ratification by the parliament of the protocol on the admission of Montenegro into NATO.
Recall, this protocol was signed in May last year, and now it must be ratified by all countries-members of the alliance.
As Union leader Goiko Rajčević explained, Dutch citizens have a constitutional right to take such a decision on a plebiscite. His organization has already begun to work in this direction, explaining to the senators that Montenegro is being drawn into NATO against the will of its people.
In Montenegro itself, NATO’s numerous opponents demand a referendum on this issue, but the authorities intend to take a decision within the parliament.
