7 policemen suffered due to conflict at the checkpoint near Slavyansk

Seven officers of the Ukrainian police were injured as a result of the conflict with a group of armed citizens at a checkpoint near the town of Slavyansk, said Tuesday the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Donetsk region Vyacheslav Abroskin on his Facebook page. According to him, the victims were hospitalized.

“Polite” citizens left Kharkov, insulting police officers, same citizens of Ukraine as they are. They did this demonstratively on the camera”, Abroskin stressed.

The police took measures to restore law and order and stabilize the situation. On this fact, a check is being carried out, the chief of the police wrote. The “brazen column of activists” continued to move towards Bakhmut”, he said.

According to the police of the Donetsk region, around 19:00 (20:00 Moscow time) on Tuesday, a column of 13 cars with more than 35 passengers moved through a checkpoint at the entrance to Slavyansk. The people refused to undergo a standard check and provoked the conflict.

“As a result of the verbal skirmish, a conflict arose, during which citizens showed disregard for the law, prevented policemen from fulfilling their official duties to ensure public safety.” The local MP started to beat the policemen, tried to snatch the weapons. The police took measures to restore law and order and stabilize the situation”, the statement said.
