A man has driven a car into a pedestrian area in the German city of Heidelberg and tried to flee away after injuring three people, a spokesperson for the German law enforcement agencies said on Saturday.
The man was reported to have been armed with a knife. The police located him and opened fire wounding the attacker. He was taken to hospital. An investigation into the circumstances behind the accident is underway.
