China welcomes Russia’s desire to create a large Eurasian Partnership

 

China supports Russia’s initiative to create a Greater Eurasian Partnership and is considering measures for its implementation, Director-General of the Department of European-Central Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Gui Congyou told reporters.

During the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 17,  Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the intention of Russia and other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) to create a large Eurasian Partnership with the participation of  China, India, Pakistan, Iran, Commonwealth of Independent States and other countries. 

 

“Russia has voiced the initiative to establish the large Eurasian partnership that could unite the EAEC, SCO and ASEAN states. The Chinese side considers this initiative as positive and constructive idea and welcomes it”, said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman.

 

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the establishment of comprehensive Eurasian Partnership meets the trends of globalization and the common desire of the Eurasian continent, since it’s about opening up and deepening of cooperation for development. “I am confident that China, the ASEAN countries and other Eurasian states will support the initiative and contribute to its advancement”, – said director of the department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
