Lebanon asks Russia for weapons

Lebanese Ambassador to Moscow Chawki Bou Nassar said on Monday that Lebanon asked Russia to supply his country with Kornet anti-tank missile systems and T-72 main battle tanks and cannons.

Nassar added in a statement that the talks on this matter are continuing, pointing out that the Lebanese authorities are hoping to obtain these weapons within a year.

During his visit to Moscow last month, the Lebanese Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil expressed hope that Lebanon would receive additional military aid from Russia to support its efforts to fight terrorism.
