Netherlands may consider the refusal to ratify the agreement on association between Ukraine and the EU, said the representative of the country’s government information service Stephan Schrover.
Earlier, the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said the Netherlands did not rule out changes in the text of the agreement on the EU-Ukraine Association for its ratification; without legal binding decisions with regard to the matters raised in the Dutch referendum, ratification is impossible. On Thursday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin said that Kiev does not lead and intend to negotiate amendments to the text of the association agreement with the EU.
“In principle, all variants are discussed, including nonratification, if the decision reached in Brussels will not be acceptable here”, he said. According to him, this issue is not an internal affair of the country and bilateral relations. “That is why we are discussing it with our partners in the EU and Ukraine”, added Schrover.
