UK: polling stations are opened, Britons to make historic choice

The polling stations will close at 10 p.m. local time (21:00 GMT) on Thursday. There is no threshold for turnout, and there will be no exit polls.

The question that will be asked is “Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?” Voters will have to tick a box either next to “Remain a member of the European Union,” or “Leave the European Union” option.

The vote will have far-reaching repercussions for the EU and UK economies and foreign policies, as well as for the composition of the British government.
