Latvia: Russia does not currently pose a threat to the republic

Russia does not currently represent a threat to Latvia. This was stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Baltic republic Edgars Rinkēvičs.

“There’re no threats from Russia now”, he said in an interview on Latvian State Radio.

According to him, Latvia is doing “everything possible that anyone, even in the worst nightmares did not come up with the idea that NATO member country can be caused harm”. Rinkēvičs also added that in spite of the prevailing pattern of relations, Latvia and Russia engaged in a dialogue on many issues.
