Former mayor of London Boris Johnson has won the competition of poems about President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. As a reward he’d receive € 1 thousand. The poems in the competition were clearly offensive in nature.
Johnson’s poem about “love that blossomed between the Turkish President and the goat”, according to the British Spectator magazine, which summed up the contest.
There was a young fellow from Ankara
Who was a terrific wankerer
Till he sowed his wild oats
With the help of a goat
But he didn’t even stop to thankera.
Competition of poems about Erdogan appeared on the background of the scandal around the German TV presenter Jan Böhmermann. In April, Böhmermann read his poem about the Turkish leader during one of the telecasts. The poem contained a direct insult to Erdogan. Turkish President’s reaction was immediate. He sued Böhmermann.
