Ukraine’s Rada hopes Germany will continue to support EU sanctions against Russia

 

Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Verkhovna Rada Hanna Hopko, moderator of the working group on the social and economic issues of the trilateral contact group Peter Fischer and Special Envoy for Ukraine, Head of Ukraine Task Force in the German Foreign Ministry Johannes Regenbrecht have discussed the social and economic issues in the light of the peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbass.

 

During the meeting, it was said that the German government pays great attention to countering Russian aggression against Ukraine and is actively involved in efforts to resolve the political situation in Donbass in the framework of the “Normandy Format”, the press service of the Verkhovna Rada said on Tuesday.

 

“In this regard, the meeting participants expressed the hope that Germany will continue to make every effort to keep the sanctions imposed by the European Community against Russia in place,” the statement reads.

 

The officials also discussed the current activities and priorities of the subgroup on socio-economic issues of the trilateral contact group aimed at addressing social and economic issues in the context of the peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine’s east.
