On May 18, in the regional parliament of Venice will be held a vote on the resolution of the recognition of Russia’s status of Crimea. It stated that the aim of holding a vote was disagreement with EU position.
“We decided to come up with this initiative, because we do not agree with the policy of the European Union and the central government of Italy. Those institutions make the mistake when imposing sanctions and other restrictions on cooperation with Russia. In addition, we demand to recognize the right to self-determination of the Crimean people. The population of the peninsula held a referendum and consciously choose a course on reunification with Russia”, said in parliament.
As noted, the author of this initiative – a conservative politician Stefano Valdegamberi associated with Silvio Berlusconi, the former Italian Prime Minister and friend of Vladimir Putin.
According to Valdegamberi, if the resolution is adopted, it would be a recommendation directed to the central authorities of the country.
The fact that the regional parliament of Venice will vote on the issue of recognition of Crimea as a part of Russia on May 18, became known on May 16.
