Syria: Ceasefire in Damascus extended for two days

The “regime of silence” in Eastern Ghouta, a suburb to the east of the Syrian capital Damascus, has been extended for two more days, the head of the Russian reconciliation center said Monday.

“The Russian and US sides agreed with the Syrian government and moderate opposition to prolong the ‘regime of silence’ in the Eastern Ghouta area (Damascus suburb) for two more days – until 24:00, May 3 [21:00 GMT May 2],” Lt. Gen. Sergei Kuralenko said.

Speaking from the Russian air base in Hmeymim, in western Latakia province, Kuralenko said that, “the negotiations on a regime of silence in the Aleppo province are continuing.”
