Lavrov: Turkey’s statements on Karabakh are call to war

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Turkey’s statements on the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh can be perceived as a call to war. He stated this during a meeting with his Armenian counterpart in Yerevan.

“The statements of the Turkish leadership are absolutely unacceptable. These were calls not to peace but to war”, quotes TASS.

Lavrov said that Moscow stands for the strict observance of the agreements on the indefinite ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh. These agreements were reached in 1994 and 1995, respectively.

Russian Foreign Minister also stressed that in order to suppress the outbreak of violence in the conflict zone, it is necessary to complete the agreement by the OSCE line also.

The aggravation of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh took place in late March – early April. More than 30 people were killed and more than 200 – injured.
