Ambassador: Greece won’t let EU automatically renew sanctions against Russia

Greek representatives will not allow the anti-Russian sanctions to be automatically renewed at the EU summit in June, the Greek Ambassador to Russia, Danae Magdalene Kumanaku said.

“There will be a discussion of the sanctions issue in late June. Greece will act in a positive manner during the EU summit’s debate. So nothing will happen automatically,” Interfax cited her as saying.

Speaking about the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko’s plan to send the list of persons associated with Nadezhda Savchenko’s case against whom personal sanctions are planned, to the head of the European Parliament Martin Schulz, she said that the addition of a negative in EU-Russian relations will complicate their resumption.
