Website for voting for or against accession to NATO membership have appeared in Montenegro. The manual states that it provides holding of the “national referendum”.
Today it is the only platform where citizens can speak out on this important issue since the pro-Western authorities have refused to hold a referendum, fearing of its results.
In addition, the vote is organized as a true plebiscite. To cast a vote may only Montenegrins over 18 years old.
During the first day of website’s work more than 4,000 people had given their votes.
Surveys show that Montenegrins are divided on the issue of joining NATO. Figures given by the authoritative political scientists show that more than 70% of the population is against such a move.
