On January 28, in Bratislava, Slovakia took place another protest against NATO.
Earlier, in the capital of the Czech Republic had been held the same action with the participants from Poland, Germany, Bulgaria, Italy, Slovakia, where the representatives of those countries decided to pool their efforts and called the event as a pan-European protest against war and NATO.
The problem that occurs in every country is the same – with the accession to the military alliance no one state is holding a referendum, which is a democratic way of decision-making. People disagree and oppose NATO, requiring their governments to withdrawal from the military bloc. Another common problem is despite the protests in the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Slovakia, the media doesn’t pay attention to such activities, even though the topic of the benefits of membership are widely presented in the statements of governments.
More than 20 anti-NATO demonstrations were held in Slovakia, but somehow only few people in Europe know about them. Anti-NATO protest in Bratislava, on January 28 is the continuation of the international initiative, which was symbolically born in the Czech Republic.
The activists, members of various organizations, political parties and people from different countries campaigning for peace will be consolidated in the Commonwealth of the European nations, the creation of which was already signed in a memorandum on the joint meeting on Jan. 27, 2016 in Prague.
Given the seriousness of what is happening in Europe, citizens from various countries are going to help each other to defend their rights, for example, the right of free choice and sovereignty. The importance and relevance of this issue reminded about dramatic battle of Montenegrins who on Dec. 2, received an invitation to join NATO, after which massive anti-NATO and anti-government demonstrations broke out in the country.
