Kiev Red Cross Society accused of corruption

The international anti-corruption Transparency International network in Ukraine (‘TI Ukraine’) urges law enforcement agencies, the Ministry of Health and partners of the Society of the Red Cross (SRC) in Ukraine to investigate the corruption facts published by volunteers of the Kiev city SRC organization.

According to the press release of the organization ‘TI Ukraine’, volunteers report, in particular, about numerous cases of trading the humanitarian aid received for distribution among the indigent social groups and temporarily displaced persons from the occupied territories. Thus representatives of the Red Cross called the money received for humanitarian aid ‘charitable contributions’.

Besides, volunteers reported about the facts of payments for the first aid courses which have to be free for everybody willing to join, and about other illegal actions of the offices’ staff of the reputable public humanitarian organization in Kiev and the region.

‘TI Ukraine’ demands from the central cell of SRC in Ukraine carrying out transparent and impartial complex check of activity of the Kiev organization and other regional offices with involvement of public representatives.
