Russia bomber destroys Syria ISIS strongholds: agencies

MOSCOW: A Russian bomber had destroyed ISIS strongholds in the Syrian province of Deir al-Zor, Russian agencies quoted a defense ministry official as saying Tuesday.

Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said the bomber’s strikes had killed more than 60 of the extremist militants in comments carried by agencies.

He added that Russia’s air force has also delivered more than 40 tons of humanitarian aid to areas of Syria which are blocked by “terrorists.”

Food and other cargo was parachuted to the besieged city of Deir al-Zor and other localities blocked by ISIS.

ISIS had executed Syrian civilians en masse recently in the Syrian province.
