It has been reported by anti-government Aleppo 24 that ISIS have announced the halving of ISIS fighter salaries.
One of the attractions to ISIS besides the fundamentalist ideology for jihadists, were the lucrative wages that they paid compared to other groups. These were mostly funded from extortion, stolen oil in Syria and Iraq that was exported to Turkey, selling antiquities on the Turkish black market and other streams of venue.
The document states that due to “exceptional circumstances” these cuts have had to be made. This is unsurprising considering the success of Russian airstrikes in Syria in bringing a halt to the cross border oil trade between ISIS and Turkey which brought millions of dollars to the terrorist group daily.
This is yet to be verified by other sources.
