Ukrainian prosecutors have announced the start of a criminal investigation over Japan Broadcasting Corp. (NHK) reporters’ entry to Yalta in the Crimea.
The public broadcaster said that there was no problem with the visit because it obtained approval from the Ukraine government beforehand.
According to prosecutors, the NHK crew visited a winery in Yalta on Tuesday.
Actually, however, the reporters went to the winery in late December and a television program about the winery was broadcast Sunday.
The winery announced the NHK reporters’ visit on its website on Tuesday.
The Ukrainian government has been calling on foreigners to refrain from visiting Crimea because such visits could be interpreted as supporting Russian control of the region.
