Ukraine Opens Fire at OSCE Observers and Violates Minsk Agreements

Kiev, Dec 28 (Prensa Latina) The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) confirmed today that Ukrainian troops opened fire in Kominternevo at its observers in the insurgent Donetsk People”s Republic (DPR), and violated the truce agreed in Minsk.

The press service of the international organization reported that the attack on the patrol, identified with the logo of the special monitoring mission, occurred in broad daylight (11:20 local time), with no wounded reported.

As a result of aggression, OSCE officials had to return to their headquarters in the rebel territory, said the source, anticipating that it will publish a detailed report on this.

The Donetsk News Agency (DNA), meanwhile, reported that along with OSCE observers were the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the DPR, Basurin Eduard.

On this incident, the Russian ambassador to the OSCE, Alexander Lukashevich, was quoted by Life News, saying that it demonstrates the refusal of the military to Kiev to meet the commitments made in the capital of Belarus, whereby any provocation in the security zone can lead to tragic consequences.

The political line of the Kiev authorities is not complying with the points provided in the agreements, such as the ceasefire and the withdrawal of armaments, said the diplomat.

In the DPR, Basurin reported that two civilians were killed in another attack by 152 mm heavy artillery against the city of Zaitsevo.

The president of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma, Alexey Pushkov, considered, meanwhile, that the conflict in Donbass (southeastern Ukraine) is the only way that Kiev can hold the interest of the West towards Ukraine.

In these circumstances, the conflict in Donbass is, on one hand, the only way to keep the interest of the United States and its allies, and therefore preserve financial aid and the possibility of using these resources with a corrupt purpose.

On the other hand, this is an opportunity to continue telling the Ukrainian people that their country is at war. During the conflagration, serious protests, demands and demonstrations are out of place, said the legislator.

Therefore, the lukewarm crisis is advantageous to the regime in Kiev, said Pushkov, who recalled that Ukraine survives today only thanks to financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund.

If the tensions in the region of Donbass decrease, it will not take long for the authorities in Kiev to be able to show themselves to the West as ‘victims of Moscow’, which can be used against Russia, concluded the deputy.
