Islamist Rebels Suffer Over 25 Casualties in Failed Northern Daraa Offensive

On Friday morning in the Dara’a Governorate’s northwestern countryside, the Islamist rebels from the Free Syrian Army’s “Southern Front Brigades” launched a large-scale offensive to capture the town of Jadiyah from the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Armored Division.

The Islamist rebels of the Free Syrian Army began their assault at 9:30 A.M. (Damascus Time) by targeting the southwestern perimeter of Jadiyah, where they were confronted by a joint contingent of soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Armored Division, the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA), and the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Izra’a.

Following an intense battle with the Islamist rebels of the Free Syrian Army, the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Armored Division and their allies overwhelmed the encroaching enemy combatants that attempted to infiltrate into Jadiyah’s southern perimeter, killing over 25 militants and destroying 4 armored vehicles that were mounted with a variety of anti-aircraft machine guns.

As a result of their failed infiltration into Jadiyah, the Islamist rebels of the Free Syrian Army were forced to retreat towards the Al-Quneitra Governorate in order to evade the Syrian Arab Army’s barrage of mortar shells and rockets.

Trying to make a positive out of a disastrous situation, the Islamist rebels attempted to infiltrate into the Army Battalion Base; however, this ended in another defeat for the Free Syrian Army as they were forced to retreat once again.
