China made a stand against Montenegrin accession to NATO membership

Invitation of Montenegro into NATO was criticized by the FM Spokesman Hua Chunying.

She said that Beijing is closely following the negotiations between the Alliance and the Balkans and does not welcome this step of NATO.

“We consider that NATO is a product of the “Cold War”, said Hua Chunying, adding that China opposes the expansion of alliance by including additional countries.

“In the era of globalization, the security of all countries is interconnected and mutually influence each other. No country or group cannot rely only on force”, – said the representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

In addition, Hua Chunying stressed that the international community should abandon ideas of the “cold war” and establish a new concept of a universal, comprehensive, co-operative and sustainable security.
