It has been reported by Sputnik that a newborn girl in Damascus has been named Russia.
The mother and father explained they decided on the name to express their gratitude to Russia for their humanitarian and military aid to Syrian efforts in defeating terrorist forces in the country.
Sputnik also reported that a Russian girl born in November was named Syria as her father has been deployed to a mission in the country.
These name exchanges demonstrate the growing solidarity between the Russian and Syrian people.
