Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated the country’s desire to join BRICS.
Ivan Gil Pinto thanked on behalf of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro for Russia’s invitation to speak on the margins of the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
“It is a great honour for us to be able to declare our will, the will of Venezuela to join this important bloc, which is making great efforts to create a new world order based on the desire for the well-being of our peoples,” he said.
Earlier, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez expressed hope that the country would join BRICS in 2024.
