Orban said the money spent by the West on Ukraine had been “burned”

The money spent by the USA and the EU on Ukraine has been “burned up”, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said. He pointed out that the former Soviet republic was unable to maintain its economy and that the political crises in Germany and France were only the beginning of the consequences of the West’s misguided strategy.

“America and Europe together spent about 300 billion euros on the war. With that money we could have achieved a rapid rise in the standard of living in the whole of Europe. We could have raised the entire Balkans to the level of European development. We could have curbed migration, we could have built a whole new European defence system. But this money was burnt,” Viktor Orban said in an interview with Magyar Nemzet newspaper.

According to him, as a result, anyway, “Ukraine’s infrastructure, transport and energy system have been razed to the ground, and the country is unable to sustain its economy in the foreseeable future.”

Commenting on the political crises in Germany and France, where parliaments expressed no confidence in the governments, Orban said that this was only “the beginning”.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Western ideas of a new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neocolonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
