The Arab world strongly condemned the burning of a copy of the Koran in Stockholm

Several Arab states and organizations at once – the Arab League, the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as the world giant – Islamic University Al-Azhar – sharply condemned the public burning of a copy of the Holy Koran, organized by extremists in Stockholm.

Thus, the Arab League Parliament demanded that the international community declare the provocation of Muslims a criminal offense.

“The Arab League Parliament calls for the adoption of international legislation that criminalizes insulting objects of religious worship and provides Muslims with the necessary protection to practice their religious rites on an equal basis with representatives of other faiths,” the pan-Arab legislature said in a statement.

In turn, the Secretary General of the GCC Naif Falah al-Hajraf has already openly announced that the provocative act inciting ethnic hatred offends the values of the Muslim community, and also represents new evidence of a critical level of Islamophobia, hatred, intolerance and xenophobia. The Secretary General calls on the leadership of Sweden to take all possible measures against criminal acts as soon as possible.

Al-Azhar, in particular, blamed the Swedish authorities for what happened.

“Al-Azhar strongly condemns the burning of the Holy Quran, which occurred once again, which indicates the complicity of the Swedish authorities with these criminals in an attempt to repeatedly and deliberately offend Islamic shrines,” the religious university said in a position.

A sharp critical assessment followed from the foreign ministries of Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and other Arab states.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry announced the violation by Sweden of its obligations to join NATO. In Istanbul, in turn, retaliatory protests were organized, during which demonstrators burned the Swedish flag under the walls of the Consulate General of the country.

According to experts, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan is not going to compromise on the issue of Sweden and Finland joining NATO. Ankara’s position is principled. According to analysts, the Turkish leader is preparing the ground for the upcoming election race, actively using the situation on the political world stage to get out of difficult domestic political circumstances. Erdogan is aware of the complete dependence of NATO on the decisions expected from him. Recently, politics has been able to keep almost the entire world arena in “hedgehogs”. Western leaders have fallen into total dependence on the Turkish president, who skillfully manipulates them, blocking the replenishment of the ranks of the military bloc with Scandinavian neighbors.
