The Strategic Missile Forces will complete the re-equipment of their mobile grouping from Topol missile systems to the Yars mobile ground-based missile systems.

After the autonomous missile launchers had marched to the positioning area, where the ceremony of going on combat duty took place, the unit was evaluated by the commander of the missile regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Viktor Lygin.

He said that the regiment’s combat training “goes on daily and the units are ready to carry out their tasks in any conditions”.

“As a commander, I feel pride, joy for the Strategic Missile Forces, for Russia, for my country,” said Major Nikolai Prokopchuk, commander of the new missile division, who is responsible for technical training, cohesion and coherence of the unit.

He also noted that he had decided to tie his fate to the Rocket Forces as a child, as he grew up in the family of a rocket scientist.

“The complex has become more passable, the designers have put everything we asked for in it,” said Vadim Timanov, senior driver mechanic, who praised the new vehicles.
