Russian Sputnik V vaccine may receive WHO approval by the end of the year

By the end of this year, the first Russian vaccine against COVID-19 Sputnik V may be approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).

This is reported by “Lenta.ru”, referring to the conversation of the erased researcher of the WHO Sumiya Swaminathan with the publication of RIA Novosti. According to her, if the signing of all legal papers is completed in the near future, the drug will receive a license.

“The Russian authorities have assured us that these documents will be signed very soon, and as soon as this is completed, in principle, we are waiting for this, the assessment of the dossier will resume, the dialogue will resume, and then an inspection will be scheduled,” she said.

There are no exact dates for the inspections yet, but WHO expects them to take place soon. In case of a favorable coincidence, Sputnik V will be approved as early as 2021.
