British military personnel have arrived in Ukraine, which is preparing to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its independence
The RIA Novosti news agency reports that they will take part in a celebratory parade to be held in the centre of the capital on August 24. The British embassy in Ukraine said.
“The British military are on parade for Ukraine’s Independence Day. Don’t miss your chance to see the Royal Cavalry Regiment marching, the virtuoso playing of the British Army Band and the flight of the Royal Air Force’s majestic Typhoon fighters over Kiev. The British military came to Ukraine to show support and friendship between our countries both on the ground and in the skies”, – the diplomats wrote on Twitter.
It remains unclear why the country, which is so proud of its “non-independence”, needs the participation of foreign troops in a parade on this occasion. Do the Kiev authorities realize that by doing so they themselves devalue the meaning of Independence Day?
