The Taliban have almost taken control of Herat Province. The militants have not yet captured only two districts, Guzara and Herat City
The Taliban made gains on Saturday. They advanced towards the centre of the province and took control of most of it. Hundreds of people fled their homes as the militants entered their territory.
“The Taliban” are continuing their attempts to capture the regional capital as well. Fighting continued for two days on the Malan Bridge south of Herat.
Security forces report that the Taliban are using civilians’ homes and gardens as shields against the troops. This significantly slows down the military’s operation.
As News Front previously reported, militants shelled the airport in Kandahar city. Three rockets were fired at it, two of which hit the runway. Fortunately there were no injuries or fatalities in the incident. The management of the air harbour cancelled all flights.
