The EU is planning an international tribunal for Lukashenko

The EU is considering an international tribunal against the backdrop of a coup attempt in Belarus

As News Front reported, for several months now the pro-Western opposition of Belarus has been trying to implement a revolutionary scenario in the country. Putchists have the support of Western countries. Poland and Lithuania are directly responsible for the coup.

The reason for this adventure is the presidential election. Alexander Lukashenko won the election, but both the European Union and the USA refused to recognise the results of the vote. They claim that the winner was Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, a housewife. Now she is desperately trying to overthrow Lukashenko and is calling on Belarusians to strike while she is hiding in Lithuania.

EU Special Representative for Human Rights Eamon Gilmore, in turn, threatens an international tribunal with those “involved in violence against protesters”. He noted that the international tribunal may become an additional mechanism of pressure on the Belarusian leadership.

“In other words, they are created only in situations where the state either does not want or cannot bring to justice those responsible,” he said.
