Ankara notes the role of Russia in resolving Syria’s situation

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said that Russia is making efforts to implement the memorandum with Turkey on Syria, and the number of incidents involving the Syrian Kurdish Self-Defense Forces (YPG) is decreasing.

“We have signed an agreement with the Russian Federation. However, we see that the YPG did not completely come out, rather serious attacks continue. But the number of such incidents is gradually decreasing, because we are constantly in touch with Russian partners, and they are making efforts in this direction”, – Akar said during broadcast on NTV.

On October 22, the Russian Federation and Turkey signed a memorandum of understanding featuring 10 points, in particular, on the entry of the Russian military police and the Syrian border service on the Syrian side of the border with Turkey outside the Turkish Source of Peace zone to facilitate the withdrawal of Kurdish troops and their armament by 30 kilometers from the Syrian-Turkish border. Russian Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu said that Kurds were withdrawn ahead of schedule. After this, a joint Russian-Turkish patrol began.
