Iceland’s Foreign Minister plans to visit Russia before the end of the year

Iceland’s Foreign Minister Gudlaugur Thor Thordarson plans to visit Russia before the end of this year, said Speaker Altinga (Icelandic Parliament) Steingrimur Johann Sigfusson at a meeting with State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the European Conference of Parliament Speakers.

The speaker of the Icelandic parliament recalled that Iceland is the chairman of the Arctic Council and is interested in maintaining dialogue with all the major participants in this council.

“As a politician, I believe in the power of dialogue, despite the differences between the countries…  As far as I know, our foreign minister will come to Russia before the end of this year, and I think that we can move forward, despite geopolitical issues”, – said Sigfusson.
