Albania: Several injured in anti-govt protests in Tirana

Several people were injured during anti-government protests in Tirana on Saturday, as protesters hurled stones at riot police who responded by deploying tear gas and water cannons.

The protesters exhibited numerous banners and placards against the government, such as “This is the end of the thieves,” and “Rama in jail – free elections.”

Saturday’s protest was part of a series of ongoing opposition demonstrations against Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government, which are calling for his resignation over charges of corruption and for new elections.
