Syrian air defence filmed while reportedly intercepting Israeli missiles

Syrian missile defence systems were filmed shooting down what are thought to be Israeli rockets in Damascus early on Thursday.

The Syrian state news agency SANA has confirmed that “Syrian Air Defenses confronted an Israeli missile aggression”. The reported target was the City of Baath in the Quneitra Governorate, close to the ceasefire lines with Israel.

Israel’s military said it was responding to rockets fired at its positions in the occupied Golan Heights, including one border post, by Iranian forces inside Syria. An Israel Defense Forces (IDF) statement claimed a total of 20 rockets had been fired, some of which were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defence system, causing no casualties.
