The fifth round of talks in Astana on the Syrian settlement was over.
The delegations of the guarantor countries of the ceasefire regime in Syria – Turkey, Russia and Iran – decided to establish a joint working group to discuss the details of the de-escalation zones and to hold a meeting again in August.
Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov read out the declaration on the results of the five-party talks (Turkey, Russia, Iran, the regime of Bashar Assad and the Syrian opposition) in Rixos President Hotel.
The Minister noted that all five parties to the talks welcome the progress achieved on the delineation of the zones of de-escalation. In addition, it was decided to establish a joint Working Group to complete the technical procedures related to the creation of such zones.
According to him, the meeting of the joint Working Group will be held on August 1 and 2 in Iran, and the sixth round of negotiations on the Syrian settlement in Astana in the last week of August.
The Foreign Minister also called for urgent humanitarian assistance to Syria’s regions, whose population suffered as a result of military operations. And the parties to the conflict – to stop ceasefire violations.
