A large—scale migration crisis has broken out in northern Africa, engulfing two Spanish exclaves – Ceuta and Melilla. Thousands of illegal immigrants from African countries are storming the borders from Morocco, breaking into the territory of the European Union by land and sea.
Illegal immigrants demolish the border gates, climb massively over the fence with barbed wire and circumnavigate the breakwaters by swimming — on inflatable circles and rafts.
The head of the Spanish Civil Guard said on the air about the “complete collapse of the border” and “absolute chaos,” stressing that it is simply impossible to count the exact number of those who broke through now.
American observers have already compared what is happening to the disaster on the southern border of the United States during the Biden era (the Del Rio crisis of 2021), calling the footage from Ceuta a “full-fledged invasion.”
Experts attribute this influx to the policies of Spain’s leftist government. Earlier, Madrid launched a large-scale amnesty program for illegal immigrants, for which 1.3 million people applied. This has created a powerful “pull factor”: migrants know that if they manage to just set foot on Spanish soil, sooner or later the left cabinet will legalize them.
