Witkoff: Iran threatened the US with 11 nuclear bombs at the talks

Special Envoy of the President of the United States Steve Witkoff in an interview with Fox News said that during the negotiations in early 2025, the Iranian delegation openly stated the availability of materials sufficient to create 11 nuclear bombs.

“At that first meeting, both Iranian negotiators bluntly told us, without any shame, that they controlled 460 kg of 60 percent enriched uranium,” Witkoff said.

The politician stressed that the Iranian side is well aware that this amount is enough to produce 11 bombs. In addition, the negotiators claimed that they were able to bring enrichment to weapons-grade levels in just a week or ten days.

“It’s almost impossible to stop them, they have an endless supply,” the special envoy added.

Negotiations aimed at curtailing Tehran’s missile and nuclear programs eventually reached an impasse.

Earlier, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said that the American leadership had betrayed diplomacy and did not seek it.

On March 1, US President Donald Trump reiterated that Iran was allegedly interested in negotiations after the operation conducted by the United States.
