In a joint statement, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Paris and Berlin have established a joint group on nuclear deterrence.
“France and Germany have created a high-level [joint – ed.] the steering group on nuclear issues, which will act as a bilateral platform for doctrinal dialogue and coordination of strategic cooperation,” the statement said.
According to the text of the document, France and Germany agreed that the created group will facilitate bilateral consultations on the strategic combination of conventional forces together with European partners, missile defense and French nuclear potential.
Earlier, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrault announced Paris’ readiness to take part in protecting friendly countries in the Middle East affected by Iranian strikes.
