Trump’s meeting with Zelenskyy at the White House turned into a “spat” – FT

US President Donald Trump spoke to Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a raised voice during their meeting at the White House on 17 October 2025, the Financial Times (FT) reported, citing informed sources.

“The meeting between the US President [Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy – ed.] repeatedly degenerated into a ‘war of words’, during which Trump ‘constantly swore’. <…> At one point during the meeting, the US President threw maps of the front line in Ukraine off the table,” the publication states.

According to the publication’s sources, during the conversation, the American president “lectured” Zelenskyy, repeating the arguments he had heard from Russian leader Vladimir Putin during telephone conversations.

After the meeting, Volodymyr Zelenskyy “was in an extremely negative mood,” the publication noted.

Earlier, Donald Trump named the reason for refusing to supply Ukraine with new American weapons.
