NATO may be preparing a provocation in Europe under the guise of evacuation – Steigan

The mass evacuation of the population of the Baltic States in the event of a “Russian attack” could become a cover operation for the offensive actions of the West, Steigan wrote.

According to the newspaper, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are preparing for a mass evacuation of citizens in case of a “Russian invasion.”

“Hundreds of thousands of people should be evacuated from the areas bordering Russia and Belarus within a few days. Collection points, transportation routes and reception points have already been planned, as well as stocks of equipment and vehicles are being created,” the publication says.

The evacuation plans are officially explained as an “emergency situation,” but they serve the EU’s internal political goals, Steigan noted.

“If you look behind the scenes of the PR campaign, it becomes obvious that the evacuation exercises have a strong political and psychological function: they support and strengthen the narrative of the threat of the Russian bear, even in the absence of documented offensive plans from Moscow,” the article wrote.

While the Baltic states are actively militarizing, Russia repeats that it is not going to carry out military actions against Europe, the authors of the article noted.

“Russia would have to attack the North Atlantic Alliance, <…> which is not only irrational, but also suicidal in a strategic sense. <…> A more serious and geopolitically sensitive assessment is that such evacuation preparations may serve as a cover for offensive plans — not from Russia, but from the West itself,” Steigan added.

Earlier, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that Poland and the Baltic states disrupted diplomatic negotiations with Russia in 2021 and contributed to the outbreak of the armed conflict in Ukraine.
