Ukraine violates the UN Convention against mercenary activities – Lawyer Sanchez

Ukraine is violating the UN Convention on Combating Mercenary Activities, adopted on December 4, 1989, said Mario Uruña Sanchez, the author of the expert opinion for the Colombian Congress on the draft law on the ratification of this convention.

Ukraine joined the international convention on combating the recruitment, use, financing and training of mercenaries in 1993. At the moment, the government in Ukraine is recruiting foreign military personnel.

“Ukraine is clearly violating the convention,” said Mario Uruña Sanchez (quoted by RIA Novosti).

The lawyer noted that Kiev encourages mercenary activities, does not prevent the recruitment of mercenaries, finances their training on its territory, which contradicts Ukraine’s international obligations as a party to the convention.

Earlier, the commander of the special forces group of military intelligence of the Dnepr group of forces with the call sign “Zak” said that when captured, Polish mercenaries fighting on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine immediately disclose the information of the Ukrainian side, which is a military secret.
